Luther

With October 31st coming next week, I decided to read a biography on Martin Luther. (October 31st is Reformation Day because Luther nailed his 95 Theses to Wittenburg church door on October 31st, 1517). I've been working through Roland Bainton's Here I Stand: A Life of Martin Luther. It is excellent! Tonight I decided to watch the film made about Luther in 2003. I had seen it once before and thought it was good, but now that I know the history better (through Bainton), I realize what a masterpiece this film is! The storyline in the movie is somewhat streamlined, of course and there may be a little bit of creative license, but it is amazingly accurate and detailed (at least, measured by Bainton's biography). So, if you want a novel but beneficial idea for how to spend the evening on Halloween, try watching Luther.
